Pulis: Arsenal Has Greater Depth Than Chelsea

The France worldwide has been starved of Premier League action this season due to Wenger’s preference for playing Alexis Sanchez as the central striker and he found himself in the starting team for the first time against West Brom.

Defender Laurent Koscielny heaped praise on Giroud and advised players vying to break into Wenger’s starting line-up to adopt his compatriot’s attitude. “The first is to continue developing players, the second step is just to make sure your investment is safe – that’s not the right way to think about it but it’s the natural reflex for the clubs”.

Wilshere’s Arsenal future is now also in doubt after going on loan to Bournemouth, while there have also been doubts over Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin, Aaron Ramsey and some of the other “core” players. And he is a fighter as well, Olivier.

“I’m not immune to critics”, Wenger said.

Arsenal have two good left-back options in Monreal and Gibbs, but no natural third option if they get injured.

“Everyone needs to be ready to fight for this club”.

“He’s got caught flat and if Gareth had made one step in front then Giroud can’t pin him if Gareth stands his ground”.

Wenger said: “In the end we had to be patient against a well organised West Brom side”.

Arsenal were looking to end a run of two consecutive Premier League defeats following a series of disappointing performances from the north London side in the title race.

“He is excellent in the air and is untypical of what Arsene wants in lots of respects, but he has won them three points today”.

Arsenal went into the clash having lost their previous two outings at Everton and Manchester City, results which saw them slip further away from in-form Chelsea.

“So they have most probably got the staying power to see them through and it will be interesting to see what Chelsea do”. But I think we have an honest relationship.

“But as long as the team is getting better, I am happy”.
