USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann named the 40 players to the preliminary US roster for the 2016 Copa Centenario.

Well done, Matt. Here’s hoping you make the final cut.

The roster features a combination of veterans mixed in with young players looking to get their first major tournament experience. Striker Aron Johannsson, as expected, did not make the roster, either.

Among those included are 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund rising talent Christian Pulisic, 20-year-old Chelsea center back Matt Miazga, Seattle Sounders rookie forward Jordan Morris and a series of stalwarts including Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Fabian Johnson, Jermaine Jones and Tim Howard.

The roster also includes several players from the U-23 Olympic team including striker Jordan Morris, goalie Ethan Horvath, and defenders Matt Miazga and Kellyn Acosta.

This suggests Klinsmann will bring the strongest possible squad to the Copa, a one-off tournament, regardless of age.

Zusi and Besler have both appeared in World Cup qualifying matches for the US this year. The friendly against Puerto Rico is one of three friendlies being played before Copa America.

Alongside Colombia in Group A of the Copa America, they will take on Costa Rica in Chicago, Illinois on June 7 at Soldier Field and finish their final group match against Paraguay in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 11 at Lincoln Financial Field.
