Though the encounter has ended, the security forces have been scanning the entire area to ascertain whether there were only three terrorists as per the tip- off or more, added the police official.
Inspector-General Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani confirmed that a civilian had been killed and said the two men injured were hospitalized and in stable condition.
He said as the security forces were closing in on the target house, the militants opened fire.
He said the house used as a fortified bunker by the separatists was destroyed in the gunfight.
“Only one body of a militant has been recovered so far from the encounter site”, they said however, the operation was going on.
He said that when the hiding terrorists were asked to surrender, they resorted to heavy firing.
Senior civil and security force officials rushed to spot to take stock of the situation.
