Authorities in Tennessee and SC said there have been no widespread fuel shortages.

This flexibility allows truck drivers to alleviate potential supply shortages caused by the temporary shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline. And authorities in SC said they had heard of “isolated cases” of gas stations running out of fuel.

North Carolina’s attorney general says hundreds of consumers have complained about potential gas price gouging as a leaking pipeline in Alabama causes supply shortages across the Southeast. “This is among the largest outages of fuel since Superstorm Sandy in 2012”. The cost for the unbranded gas in six states is now up more than 14 cents per gallon, DeHaan said. The company says spilled gasoline is being taken to the storage facility for storage.

Colonial said on Saturday evening that it would construct a bypass that circumvents the leak, which occurred more than a week ago in Shelby County, Alabama.

“We are confident these measures will help ensure Georgians’ uninterrupted access to motor fuel until Alabama’s pipeline is fixed”, Deal said in a statement on his website Friday.

The nature of unbranded gas means it’s more susceptible for price fluctuations, according to Kendick Oil Company, a wholesale fuel supplier.

The Alpharetta, Georgia-based company has two main lines.

The governor said in the order that price-gouging is harmful to the social and economic welfare of Georgia residents, and issued the order prohibiting the practice.

The company said it is shipping as much gasoline as possible on its distillate mainline, Line 2, in order to mitigate the impact of the pipeline that has been shut down.

The governor’s statement says state officials are working to make sure motorists are protected from excessive gas prices and minimize any interruptions in fuel supplies.

Nationally, the average price of gas went up 2.7 cents a gallon last week, to $2.20 a gallon, GasBuddy said in a statement.

Fuel supplies in those five states were threatened by the spill, and the U.S. Department of Transportation ordered Colonial to take corrective action.

A break in a Colonial Pipeline discovered September 9 interrupted service to Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

ATLANTA (AP) — Despite some gas station employees saying they’ve run out, the Georgia governor’s office has said they have not received any complaints of gas shortages within the state after a pipeline spill in central Alabama.

Colonial Pipeline Co. must conduct testing and analysis on the failed section of the pipeline, according to the Transportation Department’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Agency, which is investigating the spill in rural Alabama. It’s unclear when the spill actually started.
