Du Plessis tweeted the bad news, confirming his season was over after sustaining a broken finger.
New franchise Rising Pune Supergiants suffered a massive blow to their Indian Premier League campaign on Thursday (April 28) after South Africa’s Twenty20 global captain Faf du Plessis was ruled out of the remainder of the tournament with a broken finger.
Du Plessis is Supergiants’ second-highest run-scorer with 206 runs at an average of 34.33 in six matches.
Du Plessis joins teammate Kevin Pietersen in the injury ward after ex-England batsman tore his calf muscle in the Supergiants’ loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore last Friday. He has also scored two 50s in the competition but both came in a losing cause.
He has had a successful run in the domestic circuit as well.
