Punjab attack: One dead as gunmen strike at Gurdaspur police station

Gunmen have attacked a police station and a bus in Punjab’s Gurdaspur killing one person and leaving at least seven people injured, as stated by TV reports. As mentioned by initial reports 7 people including 3 policemen were also injured in the firing.

The terrorists dressed in Army uniform first attacked a state roadways bus and then entered the police station.

All were carrying automatic weapons, another eyewitness said.

As stated by reports that terrorists attacked the police station at around 5 am and the encounter has been on for more than two hours now.

The gunmen who came in a white Maruthi auto began firing indiscriminately at around 5 AM today.

So far, no group has taken responsibility of the attack.

Police has increased the security and the area has been cornered. They first attacked the bus and then shot at the station house officer at the Dinapur police station in Gurdaspur.

Additionally, five bombs were reportedly found on the Pathankot-Amritsar railway track near Gurdaspur, as mentioned by NDTV.

Senior police officials have reached the spot.
