Puppy shot with BBs gaining national attention
Authorities say the juveniles shot the puppy with a BB gun 18 times and threw a knife at it. As the Raleigh News & Observer reports, a utility worker was working at the Wildwood Spring Apartments in Rock City, South Carolina, on Sunday when he observed a group of youths – at least a dozen of them – playing with a black puppy. Medical staff did not find stab wounds on the dog.

At this point, veterinarians have determined Brody was not stabbed, instead, they believe someone mistook his BB wounds for stab wounds.
Police arrested a 14-year-old male and 17-year-old Ty’Juan Douglas on Tuesday.
April Splawn co-owns the clinic and told WSOC: ‘He seems like he’s going to pull through. “He’s really, really sweet”.
Dr. Hreiz described it as the worst act of animal cruelty he’s ever seen.
Because of the dog’s young age, it’s too risky to put him under anesthesia to remove the BBs, Hreiz said.
Employees at the hospital have since named the 6-week-old puppy Brody.
‘For now, we will keep a close eye on him as he recovers and make sure he stays comfortable and loved!
X-rays show BB’s inside puppy shot 18 times.
Rock Hill police announced on Facebook Tuesday: ‘Thanks to everyone who sent us tips and or offered a reward for the arrest of individuals involved in the animal cruelty abuse case.

Brody was doing well just one day after he was rescued, with the veterinarian overseeing his care calling his recovery “remarkable”. Per state law, the 14-year-old’s identity is protected because of his age. The 14-year-old has been petitioned to family court by detectives and released to a parent pending a court appearance. He was taken to the Rock Hill Jail, where he remains held without bond.
