Putin Denies Russia Hacked the DNC, But Doesn’t Condemn the Breach

Russian President Vladimir Putin denied this week that Russia had sponsored the hackers who stole emails and documents from the computers of the Democratic National Committee and other USA political institutions, adding that the American public should focus on the content of the leaks rather than searching for who did it.

“I don’t rule out that there could be some decisions made that would consolidate a group of countries with equal levels of development and, thereby, in my opinion, strengthening the euro”, Putin said in an interview in Vladivostok, on Russia’s Pacific coast.

We know, of course, that Russian Federation most probably did do the DNC hack according to analysis done by cybersecurity company CrowdStrike.

Thousands of the DNC’s emails and documents were hacked earlier this year, revealing that the DNC gave preferential treatment to Hillary Clinton over her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, praised Putin after the Russian leader described him as “very talented”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said a potential oil output freeze deal among oil-exporting countries should involve some compromise on Iran’s production levels.

“There’s no need to distract the public’s attention from the essence of the problem by raising some minor issues connected with the search for who did it”, he said, adding, “But…”

“Listen, does it even matter who hacked this data?” “That’s why we never intervened, don’t intervene and try not to intervene in domestic political processes”.

Vladimir Putin does not approve the election tactics of both presidential candidates.

While his denial that the Russian government was responsible for the hack is expected, his comments about whether or not it matters where the hack came from certainly sound like some misdirection.

A spate of other recent hacks, mostly targeting Democratic Party organizations but also state electoral systems, have raised alarms among US intelligence officials that Moscow is trying to influence the American elections.

Putin mentioned the cases of Iraq, where now proliferates division and violence, and Lybia, where the internal conflict annuls governance, and said that these cases show how negative this practice can be.

“Next week we are going to see it move lower”, he said of the dollar.
