Peskov denied rumors that the meeting may be held in Baku. “They agreed that the meeting will be in the first 10 days of August”, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists. “No, it’s not true: a trilateral meeting of the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran will be held in Baku”, he said.

Ankara and Moscow have recently engaged in tentative dialogue to restore relations. A deeper conversation between the two countries over a number of global issues like Syria and Crimea between the two foreign ministers will follow soon before the Putin-Erdoğan meeting.

Turkey said Monday it has detained two pilots who played a role in downing the Russian plane over links to the failed putsch.
