Putin More of a Leader Than Obama

The Hillary for Iowa organization announced the list on the day Clinton and Republican rival Donald Trump were to participate in a commander-in-chief forum on NBC and MSNBC focusing on national security, military and veterans’ issues.

The New York businessman, who has struggled at times to demonstrate a command of foreign policy, also seemed to acknowledge he does not now have a plan to address cyber security or Islamic State.

If elected, Trump said he would give military leaders 30 days to formulate a plan to defeat the group, commonly known as ISIS. And he said it only meant that Clinton had dined with Putin in the past, not that she preferred a meal with Putin over Trump. “This will require rethinking the failed policies of the past”, he said.

The businessman is set to deliver a speech Wednesday morning at the Union League of Philadelphia.

Council members include former U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell of Davis City, Iowa, retired U.S. Sen.

Clinton’s campaign disputes the suggestion she’s dodging the media, arguing the former secretary of state has conducted more than 300 interviews this year.

He accused Obama of wanting to reduce the size of the Army to 450,000 troops.

She also said there was no evidence her email server was hacked. He echoed late President Ronald Reagan in calling for “peace through strength”. Trump has drawn criticism for his praise for Putin as a strong leader, particularly after Moscow came under suspicion from US officials as being behind the recent hacking of Democratic Party groups.

“We want to deter, avoid and prevent conflict through our unquestioned military dominance”, Trump said as he lamented the cuts to defense spending, which he said is “on track to fall to its lowest level as a share of the economy”.

He said he would also seek budget reforms, attrition in the federal work force, root out inefficiencies in government spending and collect billions of dollars in unpaid taxes by Americans. The Trump campaign did not immediately provide an estimate of how much the buildup might cost.

Clinton called the fight against Islamic State the top counterterrorism goal, advocating using air power and getting more support from Arabs and Kurds fighting on the ground while also supporting the Iraqi military. But the polls show how close the race is looking ahead of the vote, making the battle for the so-called swing states all the more critical.

NEW YORK – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were scheduled to take the same stage for the first time Wednesday night, aiming to position themselves as best prepared to lead in turbulent times and warning that their opponent would be put the country at risk.

The event at the Intrepid Air and Sea Museum in NY offered a prelude of how they will deal with questions on national security issues in their three upcoming presidential debates.

In Florida, Clinton branded Trump a “demagogue” and declared his campaign to be “one long insult”. Hillary Clinton has released nearly 40 years’ worth, Tim Kaine has released 10, and Mike Pence said he’ll release his this week.

Neither candidate had an advantage when it came to national security, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling in August. With recent national polls showing Trump has narrowed Clinton’s lead, that debate is taking on greater importance for the candidates as they try to shape the race before the November 8 vote.

While Trump and his advisers have argued that Clinton did not learn from the mistakes of the Iraq War – for which she voted as a senator – and drove the United States into another blunder by arguing in favor of military intervention in Libya, Trump supported both of those military interventions.
