‘Putin not responsible for mess in Ukraine’
Meanwhile, in another March 2014 speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump reiterated his praise for Putin’s intervention in Ukraine, saying it was smart to do it right after the Olympics, which were held that year in Sochi.

“I recognize that flexibility and creativity might actually be good selling used cars and selling real estate, but when you want to be the head of an worldwide superpower, precision and consistency are really important”, Hayden told CNN’s Erin Burnett.
Stephanopoulos: “Well, he’s already there, isn’t he?”
Mr Jake Sullivan, the chief policy adviser to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, said the assessment reinforced Mr Trump’s lack of temperamental fitness for the presidency. And frankly, that whole part of the world is a mess under Obama, with all the strength that you’re talking about and all of the power of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and all of this, in the meantime, he’s going where – he takes – takes Crimea, he’s sort of – I mean… And indeed, that’s how much of the media has reported it.
The problem, though, is that this clearly isn’t true.
LISA DESJARDINS: In other words, Trump argues that he knew about Crimea, but he wasn’t talking about Crimea when he spoke of Putin and Ukraine.
Regardless of whether or not he truly made a mistake and did not know Russian Federation had already invaded Crimea, what is certain is that Trump is definitely embracing a connection with Putin.
The article says that amendment was tabled after pro-Trump delegates were urged by Trump staffers to water down the provision.
There are 99 days until the November election, and with the Republican and Democratic national conventions in the rearview mirror, the candidates have hit the road campaigning.
And he asked about Trump’s claims in recent years that he has a personal relationship with Putin.
Stephanopoulos was quick to correct him, saying that Russian Federation is already in the country. She has bad relationships with people like Putin. So let’s see.” Then, assumedly just in case anyone had missed what he was getting at, he put it even more bluntly: “Russia, if you’re listening: I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. “I said Russian Federation will not go into the Ukraine”.
That’s the key point here. A long-standing part of Russian Federation, it was moved into the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1954. And yet, Trump still parades his ignorance on Russian Federation across Sunday morning TV. We know this because he’s repeatedly expressed skepticism about American alliance commitments to Russian enemies. “I never met Putin”, Trump replied.
The idea of our future president tweeting before thinking inspires fear, especially now that he starts receiving security briefings this week on national and foreign policy activities.
This isn’t “news” in the traditional sense, as we’ve known it for quite some time now.

There is a history here, and in a way, Trump is building on it with calls to make nice with Moscow.
