Chancellor Angela Merkel cancelled a holiday in the Alps to hold emergency talks with intelligence officials today.

Mr Beck declined to confirm these reports, citing “ongoing police operations”.
“The perpetrator was an 18-year-old German-Iranian from Munich”, police chief Hubertus Andrae told reporters, adding that he had no criminal record.
However, the German police on Saturday confirmed that attacker acted alone.
According to German daily Bild, the gunman’s father was being interrogated by police.
“We are trying to determine who said what”, a police spokesman said.
A woman puts down flowers near a mall where a shooting took place leaving nine people dead the day before on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Munich, Germany.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack in which five people were injured.
Police say nine people, including children, were killed and 21 people injured during the attack.
Police said 10 of those injured in the mass-shooting are now in a critical condition, including a 13-year-old boy.
Islamic State said one of its “soldiers” also carried out that attack.
A neighbour on Dachauer Strasse that was searched by police on Saturday morning described the alleged gunman as “very quiet”. “He recognised him from the videos from the scene”.
The men had notified police about their suspicion three hours before the police raid.
Authorities, who had been searching for three attackers based on witness accounts, had ordered public transportation shut down during the manhunt. The shooter, whose name wasn’t released, was not previously known to police and there was no evidence of any links to terrorist organizations, Andrae said.
The shootings were an “inhuman, cruel attack”, and terrorist motives can not be ruled out, according to Merkel’s chief of staff, Peter Altmaier.
Police officers removed boxes of material but declined to say whether the search was connected to the shooter, who has so far not been named.
Mr Andrae also dismissed earlier fears that there were up to three gunmen involved in the attack triggered by two bystanders fleeing in a vehicle at “considerable speed”.
Armed with a handgun, the attacker had opened fire at a nearby McDonalds restaurant, before carrying out the rampage in Olympia Mall.
German news magazine Focus said the man had shot himself in the head.
Coincidentally, the date of the attack, 22 July, was the fifth anniversary of a lone-wolf massacre in Norway which claimed 77 people. Several people have been reported to be killed.

“There were a few people who came running towards us who were screaming and in panic. But mostly it was surprisingly calm”, said Elena Hakes, wearing a blue traditional dress, who had been with a friend in the Odeonsplatz square. Eight days earlier, 84 people were killed when a man drove a large truck through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France. He said he hid in a shop, then ran outside when the coast was clear and saw bodies of the dead and wounded on the ground. Her party and personal approval ratings tumbled and the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany party made significant gains in state elections, but the trend has since reversed as a European Union deal with Turkey and the closure of the Balkan route slowed refugee arrivals to a trickle.
