Putin: Russia & US may reach agreement on Syria ‘within next few days’
President Barack Obama wrapped up his final G20 meetings Monday confronting two of his prickly global counterparts, saying his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin was “candid, blunt and businesslike” but didn’t yield a deal on ending the violence in Syria.

Putin noted that Syria was high on the agenda of discussions during his meetings on the sideline of the summit and that Moscow would confer with the Syrian government on the progress of the talks and also inform Iran.
But at a news conference wrapping up the event, he was due to face a barrage of questions on the various diplomatic flashpoints that arose during his final G20 summit, including efforts to broker a ceasefire in Syria and longstanding disputes with China and Russian Federation.
“We’re doing a bunch of stuff at home and we want to coordinate internationally”, Obama told reporters at a briefing at the close of the summit. “He will try to resolve the issues that are yet to be solved, and to score the gains for Clinton”, Sudakov said.
After the meeting, Obama revealed the two had talked about how they could reach “a meaningful, serious, verifiable cessation of hostilities in Syria” and about Ukraine, which Russian Federation invaded in 2014. Obama said the aim was to reach “meaningful, serious, verifiable cessations of hostilities in Syria”.
“Who is he?”, the fiery new President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, asked Monday at a news conference, referring to Obama.
Obama added that now the gaps have not been closed in negotiations between Russian Federation and the USA in a way that they think would “actually work”.
The test prompted a quick meeting at the summit between South Korean President Park Geun-hye and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who agreed to cooperate on monitoring the situation, according to a Japanese statement.
Obama said he’s instructed Kerry, and Putin had told Lavrov “to keep working at it over the next several days – because the faster we can provide some relief to folks on the ground, the better off we’re going to be”.
While inaugurating the summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Sunday that the global economy was being threatened by rising protectionism and risks from highly leveraged financial markets.
The Group of 20 meeting of leaders of the United States, China, Germany and other major economies “must urgently find a solution” to excess steel production, said Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission.
As the FBI investigates cyber attacks at the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, sources have attributed the attacks to Russian government-linked hackers, leading some to speculate that Putin is trying to influence the US election in Donald Trump’s favor.
After Barack Obama had to use an alternative exit to disembark Air Force One after no staircase was provided at Hangzhou airport, the DIA Tweeted, “Classy as always China”.
They didn’t reach any agreements.

Obama, on Sunday, also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose military has recently clashed with US -backed Kurdish fighters in Syria.
