Putin Says Russia Not Behind DNC Hacks

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has ruled Russia for 16 years, says he has not decided yet if he is going to run for office again.

“I don’t rule out that there could be some decisions made that would consolidate a group of countries with equal levels of development and, thereby, in my opinion, strengthening the euro”, Putin said in an interview in Vladivostok, on Russia’s Pacific coast.

The Russian leader weighed in on the revelations that resulted from the release of DNC data, showing that DNC officials appeared to favor Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign over primary rival Bernie Sanders. “The important thing is the content that was given to the public”.

A deal to cap oil production at the OPEC meeting in Algeria from September 26 to 28 would be “prudent” and “good”, Russian president Vladimir Putin told Bloomberg in an interview published earlier today.

The FBI is reviewing the hack, which some US officials and Western cybersecurity agencies allege is the work of a Russian military intelligence service hacking team called APT 28 or Fancy Bear.

The hack on the DNC was pretty embarrassing for Hillary, who has had a tense relationship with Putin over the years.

“I hope to have a heart-to-heart talk with President Putin to move forward on the issue of a peace treaty and the Northern Territories”, Abe said, using the Japanese name for the islands, which in Russian are known as the Southern Kurile islands.

Putin denied accusations that Russia’s government was behind the cyber intrusions. “I doubt even our Foreign Ministry experts have the right feel for it”.

Putin said he “couldn’t imagine” anyone in “American society” would be surprised “that the campaign headquarters worked in the interest of one of the candidates, in this case Mrs. Clinton, rather than equally for all of the Democratic party candidates”.

Of Iran, Putin was sympathetic, saying “it is starting from a very low position, connected with the well-known sanctions in relation to this country”.

We know, of course, that Russian Federation most probably did do the DNC hack according to analysis done by cybersecurity company CrowdStrike. If it “can reach a similarly high level of trust” with Japan as it now enjoys with China “then we can find some sort of compromise”, he said. It’s an extremely hard thing to check, if it’s even possible to check. He’ll have to work with whatever result the campaign produces, and he can’t dictate the outcome, whatever the Clinton campaign says about the DNC hack as a threat to US democracy.
