Putin said at Thursday’s news conference that Russia made a decision to suspend air travel with Egypt because its agencies aren’t immediately capable of guaranteeing safety of Russian citizens.

But he signalled Moscow was not yet ready to withdraw its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, saying a new constitution needed to be drawn up and elections held to determine the fate of the conflict-torn country.
He said it is nearly impossible to maintain a relationship with the current leadership of Turkey, saying that he does not expect to restore relations with the Turkish authorities at the highest level. He urged the Ukrainian government to approve legislation on holding elections in the eastern regions, where Russia-backed separatists have been fighting government troops since April 2014.
Bilgiç also said at a briefing in Ankara on Wednesday that “Russia’s military elements have been acting for some time as if there is a perceived threat from Turkey, which is an exaggerated situation and has nothing to do with reality”.
He said his talks with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry earlier this week indicated that the U.S.is ready to move toward “settling issues that can only be settled through joint efforts”.
