Putin says world can breathe a sigh of relief after Iran deal

Russia’s top officials on Tuesday hailed the agreement that world powers reached with Iran to restrict its nuclear program in exchange for lifting economic sanctions.

The Kremlin favors the Iran deal, and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin hugged the credit. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad voiced his pleasure that Tehran and the Group 5+1 eventually settled their 12-year differences, Fars News Agency reported.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emerged from talks in Vienna to promise Russia will be “actively participating in the practical steps for the realisations of the agreement”. “Putin and the Russian government compartmentalized on this in a way that surprised me”, Obama said in an interview with New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman.

The intention was clear – to show that for Russian Federation the glass is half-full rather than half-empty.

The new reserve force has been discussed for several years and was first ordered by Putin in 2012 shortly after his re-election as President.

The Russian Trade and Economic Development Ministry said it’s prepared to oversee the closure of the Ministry for Crimean Affairs. Preventing the Islamic republic of Iran from building nuclear weapons is the paramount challenge of our generation.

Another area where Russian Federation sees good prospects for trade is in arms.

Meanwhile, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned President Hassan Rouhani that “some” world powers are not to be trusted in implementing the nuclear deal, urging vigilance for any breaches.

The big questions now are whether Moscow can turn improved ties into trade contracts, and how oil prices are affected. Republicans in Congress have already accused the Obama administration of caving to last-minute pressure from Iran on that point.

US-Russian nuclear tensions have appeared to be on the rise, with the United States conducting a test-flight of a dummy atom bomb earlier in July, and threatening the redeployment of nuclear missiles on continental Europe.

In Tehran, Hassan Ahmadian, a political analyst, said that most of the citizens welcome the deal. And as Russia’s options are narrowing, US options are multiplying in both the Middle East and Europe. “They are not really linked to anything and backed by nothing”, Putin said.
