Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline project is not slowing down and goes in line with Russia’s and Turkey’s interests but it requires elaboration, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Interfax and Anadolu news agencies.
He, however, added that the schedule of President Putin’s meetings has not been finalized yet.
Putin and Obama last crossed paths at the UN General Assembly meeting in September, where they held a 90-minute meeting, their first formal bilateral encounter in two years.
Moscow is also looking to use its long-standing ties with Tehran to win lucrative contracts in the energy sector with a host of other countries also looking to muscle in.
The visit to Iran also comes as Russian Federation is looking to bolster business ties with the country after Tehran inked a landmark deal in July to curb its nuclear ambitions that should see a raft of global sanctions lifted.
