Qatar’s first fatality in Saudi-led war in Yemen
Qatar said Wednesday that one of its soldiers fighting with a Saudi-led coalition in Yemen against Shiite rebels there has been killed – Qatar’s first reported casualty in the conflict.

“We congratulate ourselves and our nation for the death of a son of our homeland in Yemen”, Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah announced on Twitter.
The death was later confirmed by state media, who named the soldier as Mohammed Hamid Suleiman.
“We hope they will be successful”, Al Jubeir told reporters after a summit of Arab and South American countries in Riyadh.
“The Qatari armed forces today announced the martyrdom of Mohammed Hamid Suleiman, a soldier from the Qatari armed forces in the line of duty with Arab coalition forces…in the Republic of Yemen”, Qatar news agency said.
Jubeir also noted the important role played by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, in this regard.
The conflict pitted Shia Houthis and forces loyal to former strongman Ali Abdullah Saleh against the internationally recognized government of President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, which was backed by an air campaign launched in March by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies.
Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.

He did not give a specific date but said both the Yemeni government and the Houthis have committed to attend.
