QB Flacco, Baltimore Ravens agree on contract extension

Joe Flacco got the deal he has been waiting for on Wednesday.

The one place it hasn’t: Baltimore Ravens headquarters.

Including Tuesday’s extension, the Ravens are tied to Flacco through 2021.

Flacco, 31, would account for a $28.6 million salary cap hit without the restructured deal. His new contract will reduce that cap number. When healthy, Flacco remains a middling fantasy quarterback, with two of the team’s expected top receiving options in Steve Smith (Achilles) and Breshad Perriman (knee) returning from major injuries as well. That deal would have expired after the 2018 season, sending Flacco into free agency at age 34. The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec tweeted that Joe Linta, Flacco’s agent, is at the Ravens’ facility to finalize the details. “I guess people can say, ‘Well, Joe was dumb, too.’ It could have been (dumb), God forbid, if he got hurt”.

Flacco’s season was cut short for the first time in his eight-year National Football League career when he suffered a torn ACL and MCL against the St Louis Rams in November.
