Mired in one of the worst three-game stretches of his career, Andrew Luck is now having to deal with a sore right shoulder that has limited his practice time. Backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and new practice squad signal caller Alex Tanney did the throwing. Initial estimates called for him to miss at least two weeks with the severe muscle strain, though coach John Fox said the injury was “nothing serious”.

Luck is battling a shoulder injury and is day-to-day, but Chuck Pagano has “supreme confidence” he won’t miss any time. Going to Houston to play against a physical front that includes defensive end J.J. Watt and outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney isn’t a particularly inviting matchup either, but the Colts will certainly need Luck in order to compete in that one. Luck could be busy if history holds – he’s 5-1 against Jacksonville with 10 TDs, three INTs and a 98.6 passer rating – and the Colts studied Tom Brady’s outing against the Jaguars last week. The Colts are coming off an exhilarating 35-33 road win over the Tennessee Titans.
Luck’s most detailed response was that his right shoulder “didn’t feel as good as I would have liked it to after the game”. Doctors and athletic trainers will privately assess the extent of Luck’s injury and whether he can do more damage if he plays on Sunday.
“He’s always been good in practice, and when he’s been asked to play in games he’s done well”, Hamilton said. Jeffery, like Cutler, practiced Wednesday in limited fashion. With QB Andrew Luck listed as questionable, as well as T.Y. Hilton recovering from a leg injury, it’s hard to tell what role Allen would play, if any.

So has Luck somehow regressed or has the team around him simply let him down and dragged his performance to its level? Luck wasn’t a participant in the majority of Wednesday’s practice. “Probably not the first time they’ve tried to do it. Probably the first time that he gave in, to be honest”. If the Colts beat Jacksonville on Sunday, they will tie Miami’s National Football League record for most consecutive wins against division foes – and maybe make Bradley’s preseason comments seem silly.
