Quaid taken into custody in Vermont trying to cross border

USA actor Randy Quaid said on Wednesday he is being detained by Canadian border security and threatened with deportation because of confusion over a long-standing property dispute with California officials. Evi Quaid had been granted citizenship in Canada due to the fact that her father was Canadian, but Randy Quaid had been denied due to his felony warrant status in the United States.

Randy and Evi Quaid are one step closer to being extradited to Santa Barbara County to face justice. From there the Vermont troopers took over custody of the couple, with a judge setting bail at $500,000 each. “At the conclusion of processing Randall was transported to the North West State Correctional Center and Evi was transported to the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility”.

But they announced they were seeking asylum in Canada because they feared “Hollywood star whackers” were after them.

Quaid starred in Independence Day and Brokeback Mountain and is the brother of fellow actor Dennis Quaid.

Five years after fleeing to Canada, actor Randy Quaid is back in the United States and in custody.

The two were released after a hearing, but when they were caught running from Canada on the 9th, they were taken in once again. Evi Quaid is a Canadian citizen.
