The temblor occurred at 6:49 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.1 miles. The quake was centered southwest of Weston in the southern Sangre de Christo mountains.
A magnitude 4.0 quake was reported this week in California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Media outlets reported they were receiving calls from people who experienced shaking, though Madison Police Chief Gene Waldrop said his department hadn’t received any calls reporting a quake as of midafternoon.
This quake was much weaker than the previous tremors over the past months which were magnitude 3.0 and 3.2.
