QuakeCon 2016: New Prey Gameplay Trailer – First-Person Dead Space?

Out of nowhere – or somewhere, essentially the QuakeCon – Arkane Studios has revealed the first gameplay trailer for Prey, it’s upcoming first person shooter. Now, we have new footage showing us exactly what we’ll be doing in the game.

You play as the first human enhanced with alien powers, tasked with defending a space station under assault by nightmarish alien creatures. The game’s solid graphics use Crytek’s CryEngine, and its art style carries a few similarities to BioShock. Why create a “reimagining” of a franchise with a single release in its 10-year lifespan?

Prey will arrive some time in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Then, we also modeled the entire outside of the space station, which is kind of like an open world map and you can go anywhere. Quakecon is just getting into full swing, so we’re likely to get a lot more from Bethesda regarding their entire (expanding) library of games over the weekend. Naturally, something goes wrong, and shadowy entities infest the entire space station.

The new Prey game isn’t what you think it is: it’s not a reboot, it’s not a sequel.

The aliens known as the Typhon have broken out of their confinement and you need to fight them off in order to restore order to the Talos I research facility.

Prey also has a crafting system, allowing you to create items using resources you gain by breaking down items around the station.
