“It’s a friendly but we take it seriously and we wanted to win”.

Chuba Akpom scored a late victor as Arsenal defeated the MLS 2-1 in the 2016 MLS All-Star Game in San Jose, California on Thursday.

Drogba equalised on the stroke of half-time at the third attempt of asking after a fine Petr Cech save and a goal-line clearance from debutant Rob Holding.

“He’s a legend, and he’s a very good friend”, said Drogba, who now features for the Montreal Impact. Xhaka, a £30m signing from Borussia Mönchengladbach, played the entire second half.

In the short time he had on the field, Larin’s hold-up play created a chance when he maintained control and then crossed the ball to the San Jose Earthquakes’ Chris Wondolowski.

The head coaches of both sides – Arsene Wenger for Arsenal and Dominic Kinnear for MLS – promise to put out their best players in the quest to win.

“We know, in fact, that that the history of this game is in favor of MLS because from what I’ve heard, they have won in former seasons”, he said.

Minutes later, the opener came for the Gunners as a lovely touch from Joel Campbell chipped over MLS goalkeeper.

The MLS All-Stars might have lost, but Andrew Farrell probably had a blast.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that a top-four finish is “never enough” when questioned on his team’s ambitions for the new Premier League season.

“It’s tough for us”. Everyone loves soccer. Everyone can get together and have a good time.

“The MLS team was exceptional, exceptionally strong”.
