Qualifying Washed Out in Dover; Truex Jr. to Start 7th

Coming off a second-place finish last weekend at Kansas Speedway, Crafton led 78 of the 200 laps. “I was trying to get as close to him as I could and complete the pass, but every time I got to a auto length he’d pull away again”. Crafton was able to take the lead by deciding not to pit with Byron and most of the other front-runners, and had successfully held off Suarez on the restart. His win last season at Pocono Raceway propelled him into the Chase and he was one of four drivers racing for the championship in the season finale. “I don’t know what I could have done different to try to complete the pass”. “It’s an unbelievable track, I wish we raced at Dover more than twice a year”. Rookie Christopher Bell was third, followed by Johnny Sauter and fellow rookie Cole Custer.

“I didn’t see much”, Edwards said afterwards.

With that being said, Beyond The Flag is proud to present the top-five things worth watching for this Sunday at Dover International Race.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will join Harvick on the front row for Sunday’s race. Rounding out the top 10 in order were: Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Kasey Kahne, Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Truex and Trevor Bayne. The win should vault him into the top five, considering he was tied with John Hunter Nemechek and one point behind Tyler Young.

Just four minutes into practice, Danica Patrick’s No. 10 Stewart-Haas vehicle dumped oil and spun and the rear of her Chevrolet burst into flames.

IndyCar: Points leader Simon Pagenaud earned the pole for today’s Grand Prix of Indianapolis at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course configuration.

The French driver who leads the standings took the top spot with a fast lap of 1 minute, 8.6868 seconds in the final round of qualifying.

Graham Rahal, another American, had the best lap by a Honda driver, going 1:09.1816.

Pagenaud can add to his 48-point lead Saturday and will become the first two-time victor of the race – if he reaches Victory Lane.
