Quarterback class has plenty to prove before 2016 NFL draft

North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz runs a drill at the NFL football scouting combine on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, in Indianapolis. That’s exactly what the Giants need as they begin a new era. It ended the same way. Either player will do, but we believe Buckner will be the guy at No. 9.

Doctson could see himself vaulted into a surefire first-round pick after his performance in Indianapolis. All in all, the combine is about refining what you already know about a player.

“If I’m Dallas at No. 4, I’m kind of licking my lips because I’ve got a 36-year-old quarterback (Tony Romo) who hasn’t finished a season in three years”, Mayock said in reference to Wentz. Now let’s take a look at which players fell in which category.

Is Elliott such a player?

Best case, Jackson has moved into first-round consideration.

It was the top time in his position group and third best overall time at this year’s combine. “I think I adjusted to it very well, so I think I can do more than just play fullback”.

Would Elliott be the right pick for the Giants? The question is, will we see any of these in midnight green come September?

But his 40 time wasn’t his most impressive mark. Yes, there are plenty of needs in Miami, but they can’t pass this up. The only ones on the roster are Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr.

The question this year is who is best positioned. If you’re the Giants, you can’t take that risk at No. 10. This performance probably locked him in as a day 2 pick. Or Day 3? Somebody will. Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, Mathias Kiwanuka all fit that profile. While he may not shine on the track like Lawson, Buckner is a monster on the field, and his film proves just that.

The 6-foot-6 left tackle measured at 312 pounds with 35 5/8-inch arms and 10 5/8-inch hands, the latter two rank among the largest for 2016 propsects. One of his bigger concerns was the ability to be consistent and catch the ball, but if what he did in the Combine is the real Fuller he absolutely could be on the radar for the Vikings in round one.

Paxton Lynch:The Memphis Quarterback is who many associate with the Philadelphia Eagles and their 13th overall pick regardless of the Sam Bradford situation. He demonstrated excellent burst for a 310-pounder, posting a 1.70-second 10-yard split and excellent agility in the cone drills.

Oklahoma defensive lineman Charles Tapper surprised a lot of scouts with his 4.59 40-yard dash, which was the best among defensive linemen.

There is, as they say, more than one way to skin a cat.

The Giants, as now constructed before the start of free agency, could use an upgrade at defensive tackle.

“Then we saw this kid work out and it was like, ‘Whoa.’ All of a sudden, that popped out to me”, he added. Each team gets a select number of meetings with the future rookies, so when you hear of players meeting with teams, it’s a pretty big deal.
