Quarterback Trevor Knight leaving Oklahoma
Dean Blevins has confirmed that OU starting quarterback and current backup quarter back Trevor Knight has been granted a full release from Oklahoma.

OU coach Bob Stoops has made the release unconditional, giving Knight the opportunity to leave for any school.
Knight will be allowed to transfer to another school in the spring and play in the 2016 season, presuming he graduates this semester (which is expected). Carey Murdock writes that Knight has talked with Kansas State, Oregon, Georgia and SMU as possible destinations.
Knight would not be subject to the NCAA’s typical rule requiring transfers to sit out one year if he graduates with his bachelor’s degree. Baker Mayfield, who wasn’t eligible to play in 2014, won the starting job in August. He threw 14 touchdown passes, but there were 12 costly interceptions.
His fraternal twin brother, Connor, is a member of the team – they hooked up for a brother-to-brother touchdown pass earlier this year against Kansas – and Trevor Knight was elected as a team captain for this season.

Mayfield has directed the Sooners to an 11-1 record and a spot in the College Football Playoffs. His last start came in a Russell Athletic Bowl loss to Clemson last December. With the Sooners leading 23-7 at the break, it appeared that OU was on its way to its sixth consecutive win and second straight over an ranked opponent. He simply wants a chance to play more, and as long as Mayfield, who has already said he will return for his senior season, is able to stand upright and stay on the field, the chances of Knight getting much playing time are slim to none.
