Four dog coats were given to the Queen as a birthday present by the Mayor of the Royal Borough on behalf of the council.

Year three were given the opportunity to find out about the Queen’s family tree. Duty and endurance have made her an institution and an icon.

Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, is celebrating her 90 birthday today.

Philip stopped to talk to the pair and Ms Martin said later: “He asked me what I do and where I live and I told him I’m Sandra, I live in Brixton and I appear on TV”.

The Queen’s only daughter Princess Anne posed for a portrait with her mum, sitting on a sofa in the White Drawing Room in Windsor Castle.

She has traveled more than 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometres) on official trips, visiting 106 of the 193 current official members of the United Nations.

Her longevity is record-breaking both in Britain and beyond.

Aside from her recent photoshoot with Leibovitz, Queen Elizabeth also had her pictures taken together with her son, Prince Charles, her grandson, Prince William, and her great-grandson, Prince George. “She’s such a role model to all of us and her energy and enthusiasm for the work she does is an inspiration”.

Royal watchers say despite her advancing years, Elizabeth II is showing no signs of slowing down. Hundreds have lined up hours beforehand, carrying cakes, cards, balloons and Union Jack flags.

There will also be artillery gun salutes in the British capital at Hyde Park and the Tower of London and across the country, while the Houses of Parliament will be illuminated red, white and blue. At the age of 25 she began her reign as Elizabeth II. The BBC later said the footage had been misleadingly edited. In the documentary, Prince Charles watches a clip of the moment a man fired blanks while the queen was riding by in 1981, startling her horse. The first Elizabeth reigned for decades and brought stability to a fractured nation. Her uncle, Edward VIII, became king in 1936 and then abandoned it less than a year later to marry an American divorcee-a quaint scandal by today’s standards, but a constitutional crisis for 1930s Britain.
