Queen marks 90th with huge birthday lunch in London

Members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Philip stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony on Horseguards Parade in central London.
The Queen and other members of the Royal Family including Prince George and Princess Charlotte watched it from a balcony at the palace.
The parade route extended from Buckingham Palace along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and circled back.
Prince William rode up ahead on royal horse Wellesley (said by the army to be a “calm mottled gray” steed) as he, like his dad Prince Charles, is a royal colonel.

There was a right royal recycling job at the Queen’s official 90th birthday celebration today as two of the nations favourite faces made the most of their wardrobes.
At least 1,000 smaller street parties are also expected to take place across Britain to mark the birthday.
After yesterday’s poignant St Paul’s Cathedral service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s life, the Trooping the Colour ceremony was all precision displays of formation marching by the immaculately turned out troops.
But her official birthday is marked in Britain on a Saturday in June with Trooping the Colour.
The origins of Trooping the Colour lie centuries in the past when the colours, or military flag, of a regiment would be carried or “trooped” down the ranks so the soldiers would recognise it.
Attending his second Trooping the Colour, the two-year-old melted our hearts in his cute litle outfit. The new photos show Queen Elizabeth in one of the brightest outfits she has ever worn while also looking very happy on her birthday celebration march.

The Duchess of Cambridge appeared at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in a cream Alexander McQueen coat dress that she had previously worn for her daughter Princess Charlotte’s Christening a year ago.
