Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations begin
Fewer than ten pubs in Stoke-on-Trent have applied to stay open later to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. The royal monarch, as well as Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will then host a lunch affair for the visiting Governors-General at the Buckingham Palace.

Inside the church during the event, the ladies of the Flower Guild will present a series of specially designed floral arrangements that accompany pictures and artefacts that illustrate Oldswinford and the Queen’s service during the past 90 years. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be planning to bring Princess Charlotte, along with Prince George, to the event.
Making the announcement in Parliament back in March, Prime Minister David Cameron told MPs: “I can make one announcement today which is that, subject to the usual conditions, we will be extending pub opening hours on June 10 and 11 this year to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday”.
