Queensland continues Origin dominance over New South Wales

The 26-16 loss to the Maroons at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night was rep retirement-bound Gallen’s 15th defeat in his 23 Origin games since his 2006 debut.

‘NSW hasn’t cultivated that person and they have had to live in the shadow of the leadership we have got and the leadership has been very selfish and very domineering and it hasn’t had the chance to grow’.

“I’ve got every confidence in the players at the Broncos at the moment that they’ll fill the gap that I leave”.

Gallen now has the most Origin losses of any Blues player in the history of the game, with his 15th on Wednesday night surpassing the mark set by Brad Fittler.

“It’s really pleasing to be able to wrap it up in two games, especially here at home”. “This series, we know we’re going to be a better team at the end of it. Devastating that we lost but there’s still one more game to go”.

“We missed a couple of opportunities tonight and they took there’s – that was the difference”, said Gallen in his final Origin series.

Queensland now chase their fifth series clean sweep after achieving the feat in 1988, 1989, 1995 and 2010.

“We’re there to win – we’ll be there to win game three”, Daley said.

A fearless few (yes our good Sergeant has popped her head up again) dare to wear blue. The first tussle tends to be a tight one, but both teams cancelled each other out in a scoreless second period, one that included a Robbie Farah try controversially ruled out for New South Wales.

But Parish indicated they already plan to give Bird more game time in Brisbane.

Queensland fans held their breath when Michael Jennings and rookie Tyson Frizell tried to pounce on a Maloney kick in the 71st minute – only to be disallowed for a knock on.

Thaiday’s warning from referee Gerard Sutton came after just 13 minutes of Game II as he appeared to spear tackle Gallen to break up a Blues attack just inside the Maroons half.

One change Daley looks like he’ll be forced to make is in the halves with halfback Adam Reynolds failing to finish the match due to a shoulder injury. But Queensland will be buoyed by their gritty win in Sydney, and in front of a crowd that expects victories, they will turn on the style to clinch the series.
