Instead, Hateful Eight – which held its worldwide premiere at the Cinerama Dome – will play in another auditorium at the Arclight equipped to project in 70mm film.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker vented on the Howard Stern show over a slight in which his upcoming western, “The Hateful Eight”, was booted from a planned run at Los Angeles’ Cinerama Dome starting on Christmas Day in favor of keeping “Star Wars” at the iconic theater through the holidays.
Stern stuck up for Tarantino, appealing directly to Disney head honcho Bob Iger, who he says is a regular listener of the show, to straighten out the situation.
“I’ve never seen you do anything quite so sweet”, Tarantino told Stern.
Tarantino said, “It was real bad news and it fucking pissed me off. They are going out of their way to fuck me”.
The Hateful Eight is set after the Civil War in snowy Wyoming and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demián Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Masden, and Bruce Dern.
“I don’t give a shit about this theater – Quentin is a weirdo”, Stern said. And if you don’t, we’re going to pull Star Wars – the biggest movie ever made – we’re going to pull it from all the ArcLight theaters. The director of The Hateful Eight went off on an expletive-laded rant against Disney, which he claims is using extortion to block screenings of his movie all in the name of keeping the next Star Wars movie in as many theaters as possible.

“As far as I’m concerned, and let all the entertainment reporters call up Disney as of now and ask for their comments about their extortionist practices”, he said, adding later: “They didn’t need to be this vindictive”.
