Ellen DeGeneres is helping to make a terminally ill comedian’s dream come true.

“Your people didn’t even tell you this”, DeGeneres reveals to Jones during his return to her show on Monday, “but HBO is going to air your special”. But DeGeneres wasn’t done with Jones just yet.
In an episode that will be broadcast Monday, Jones returned to the show and learned his special would air on HBO.
“Here’s the thing that you mentioned last time, that you want to do a comedy special”.
He made his second appearance on the show today, and Ellen gave him the surprise of a lifetime: Jones will not only get his comedy special, but HBO will be airing it!
Jones was, understandably, quite moved by the news.
Ellen asked her viewers to donate money for Quincy, and also called on HBO and Netflix to grant Jones his wish to air the special, and HBO has taken up the cause. Jones’ friend Mickey Blaine is directing, with Blaine, his comedian wife Nicole Blaine and Jones among the executive producers. The Kickstarter’s initial goal was $5,000 to produce a special, but thanks to DeGeneres and Shutterfly, it has exceeded $50,000.

Quincy will tape his special at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on April 4, and the special will premiere on HBO this spring.
