Stipe Miocic scored a knockout win over Alistair Overeem to retain the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 203 on Saturday.

After the fight, Miocic told reporters that he wasn’t hurt, despite Overeem being stronger than he had expected and hitting a big combination that led to an early knockdown. But the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Miocic, urged by the crowd chanting “Stee-pay, Stee-pay, ” escaped the hold and quickly pressed the action.

Right now, Miocic is focused on taking a few months off after back-to-back-fight camps for fights in May and September whiles Jones is dealing with his own issues. Overeem tried to roll out of the takedown, but Miocic followed him to the floor on the scramble and got into top position with less than a minute left in the round. The fights can be watched on TV on UFC PPV, or online through live stream via the link below.

According to the report, Overeem was one of five fighters given an indefinite suspension pending further medical testing. But for those outside of Cleveland, that dominating knockout win played second fiddle to what had happened earlier that Sunday night – Mickey Gall submitting former WWE Superstar CM Punk in the first round of their welterweight match.

Jimmie Rivera won the bantamweight bout with Urijah Faber by unanimous decision. I’m up for suggestions, so whatever they give me, I’m down with a second fight with Jones, who knows.

The 24-year-old Gall never doubted he would crush Punk.

“I just remember signing my check and all that good stuff, and I heard boos”, Miocic explained. Overeem was originally supposed to fight for the UFC title in 2012 but lost the opportunity when he failed a random drug test in Nevada.

Following the heated bout, Werdum put his gloved hands to his face and was pretending to wipe away tears when he was confronted by Browne’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan. I think Punk shows flashes of skill. I felt fine, and he got me on that front headlock (guillotine choke) and I just kept scooting my right knee. On the other hand, there’s the extra appearances you’ve got to do and everyone wants a piece of you.
