“We were listening to the Patriots radio broadcast for the majority of the first half”, Coach Mike Tomlin said.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said that there was also a problem on his sideline. “Yes. I said what I said”.

When asked to clarify whether he meant Gillette Stadium, Tomlin replied, “Yes”.

“The coaches’ communications equipment, including the headsets, is provided by the NFL for both clubs use on game day”, the league said in a statement Friday morning. They say it’s the NFL’s responsibility to supply the headset equipment and that a power issue contributed to the glitch. Mike Tomlin was heated about it post-game, and so was Steelers.com writer Bob Labriola.

As an untimely follow to Deflategate, technological glitches marred the NFL’s rainy opener between the Patriots and Steelers at Gillette Stadium on Thursday. Sports, following questions surrounding signal interference between the team’s coaches’ headsets during last night’s game against the New England Patriots. Tomlin said after the game, in regards to having headset issues in Foxborough, it is “always the case”.

There likely wasn’t anything that would come from it anyway as the National Football League deals with headsets, not the team. While that would seem to clear everything up, the term “stadium power infrastructure issue” is rather confusing. He also said that it is a regular problem. Essentially, if one team’s coach-to-coach communication system isn’t working, both teams have to shut it down until the issue is resolved. The Steelers apparently weren’t told why the Pats were allowed to keep communicating while they were told to shut their headsets off while the issues was being fixed. This organization has won a lot of games, particular, in reference to the great teams of 2001, 2003, 2004…

Belichick maintained that headset issues were “a problem all game” and that they nearly had to switch helmets. It was a problem all night.

You had to have known that the National Football League was going to get to the bottom of this pretty quickly.
