Last October, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood teased fans with a twitter post that hinted at the release of a new album and an upcoming 2016 tour. The festival celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and takes place from Thursday 30 June to Sunday 3 July, 2016.

Radiohead, Sigur Ros and LCD Soundsystem head up a lineup that also includes Beach Slang, Sheer Mag, Savages, Tame Impala, Alex G, Daughter, Brian Wilson (performing “Pet Sounds” in full) and Dinosaur Jr. So it seems that Thom Yorke is now satisfied with creating less-than-impressive solo albums and side projects, and with this being Radiohead’s longest break between albums, perhaps it will be a return to the OK Computer/Kid A years in terms of musical innovation and quality. The English band allegedly plans to also hit some American festivals this summer starting in July, a source told outcome of Sound.

The Primavera Sound Music Festival created one of the most original concert lineup announcements to come in some time.
