Radiohead share new song, video ‘Burn The Witch’

But the band is now back online with a new song and their fans love it.

While it might be inspired by the classic children’s show, there’s nothing kid-friendly about the Chris Hopewell directed video where villagers burn a smiling witch, a gallows covered in flowers and some sinister village folk.

What’s even stranger and more mysterious: right before the band’s cyber disappearance many United Kingdom fans received leaflets with the band’s logo with the message “Sing the song of sixpence that goes “Burn the witch” We know where you live”. When the band released its most recent album, King of Limbs, in 2011, Yorke famously handed out copies of a self-made newspaper at a London record store.

The band have just posted the official video for their comeback track, which will also be available “on all digital services” from 12.01am tomorrow. Could that be a potential new album title?

Radiohead disappeared from the Internet overnight, possibly signaling the imminent arrival of the group’s ninth studio album.

Others speculated on Twitter about how the new album will arrive, with Radio One DJ Phil Taggart writing: ” #Radiohead will release their new album at midnight exclusively through a carrier pigeon sanctuary in Torquay #RadioheadReleaseTheories”.

The track is called “Burn the Witch”, perhaps to the surprise of nobody, as this phrase was included in big, bold letters on the weird mailer that the band sent out to some of their fans this month.

The band have now confirmed this to be the case, tweeting a link to their new music video on Tuesday (3 May), with a new album also expected to be on the way.

Radiohead will embark on their first US concert dates in four years as part of a new world tour starting May 20.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that the band have made a music video in Los Angeles with There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson.
