Rafa Benitez urges Newcastle United fans to put recriminations on hold
Newcastle will emerge victorious in their must-win clash against Swansea at St James’ Park on Saturday, according to Mark Lawrenson. “I think we can win games and get the points we need to stay up”. My concern would be if I saw them giving up and I don’t see that. ‘We need to win this game.

It is Newcastle’s most pivotal game in years and as such Rafa Benitez will spell out to Jonjo Shelvey the importance of maintaining his discipline as the stand-in captain prepares to face Swansea City for the first time since his acrimonious departure from the Liberty Stadium.
“I don’t see any fear in the players”, Benitez said at his pre-match media conference.
Benitez says his side still have a chance of avoiding relegation, despite their position in the table.
Rafael Benitez has pleaded with Newcastle’s disgruntled fans to leave the recriminations until the end of a dismal season as he attempts to drag the club out of a £100 million relegation tailspin.
They have conceded three or more goals in 10 Premier League games this season – a joint-league high with Aston Villa – and kept just one clean sheet in their last 17 league games.
“Every fan has to try to help”.
“The only thing I’m asking the players is that they have to give everything and finish the game without regret that they left everything there”.
“I had a player in the past at Real Madrid reserves with the same problem, sometimes they care so much and they want to be there, that can happen, obviously it’s bad news”.
Such is Leicester’s rock-solid form that Tottenham’s hopes of landing a first English title since 1961 are hanging by a thread and Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld said: “The title is hard”.
Papiss Demba Cisse has scored four goals in five Premier League appearances against Swansea.
The underdogs are made even more attractive when one accounts for the fact that they beat Newcastle 2-0 in Wales back in August and are W5-D1 through their last six against the Tyneside club, winning each of their last three matches at St. James’. Scoring in nine of his last 14 appearances has been one of the reason why Swansea have all but secured safety, without him they’d probably still be in trouble.
