The arraignment hearing for Roy Williams happened this afternoon.

Williams was transported to Winnebago County Jail, where he was being held on ,000 bail.

A dad was arrested after he allegedly tried to run over several teens who were bullying his daughter.

They ran from him and he chased after them in his auto, driving off the roadway and accelerating toward a group of a dozen teens who were on the sidewalk at the school.

Rockford Police say the father never hit any of the kids, but he came awfully close. WIFR Roy Williams Jr., 56, drove his Dodge Durango on the lawn about 100 yards as kids scattered and screamed near Nelson Elementary School in Rockford, Ill, police said. The group of teens pursued by Williams can be seen running away – screaming for their lives.

“He was just going after everybody”, said Velez.

Telfair said he stood and watched at first because he couldn’t believe it. “And when he got close to me, I just jumped out of the way”.

Williams did not attempt to flee the scene. He was arrested upon their arrival after police saw Velez’s video.

Assistant Deputy Chief Doug Pann is quoted as saying: ‘He should have not taken matters into his own hand and we would have investigated that initial incident and tried to resolve it without there being any further violence.

56-year-old Roy Williams has been charged with 12 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, 12 counts of aggravated assault on public property, 2 counts of assault, reckless driving and reckless conduct.
