Rahman: Chelsea players fighting for Mourinho

Although Chelsea were still well short of the dominant form that made them Premier League champions just six months ago, Mourinho has to be grateful for small mercies after their second win in nine games.

But Blues fans sang his name throughout Wednesday’s dramatic 2-1 victory. “The only thing I can say is until my last day in this club – whether it is four years, 10 years, 15 years it doesn’t matter – however long I stay here I will give everything for them”. The punishment was given to Mourinho for unacceptable behavior after a match against Southampton.

The Portuguese boss has been under enormous pressure of late and he was quick to acknowledge the fans who are supporting him in spite of so much external criticism and media attention.

I knew the risks but in the first half we were very good and we deserved a different result.

“Everyone, players, coaches, you have good moments and bad moments”.

“This is my moment, because it was wonderful”, Mourinho said. It was awesome. The club should be proud of their fans.

Another bummer is the fact that Jose Mourinho will not be on the bench during that match since he is serving a one-game stadium ban after facing two charges of misconduct from the football association.

Mourinho’s wife Matilde, along with son Jose jnr and daughter Matilde jnr took their seats behind the dugout for the match.

“I have to say Dynamo are a very good team”.

They visit Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in their penultimate match, before rounding off the group stage by hosting Mourinho’s former club Porto. “To qualify 1-1 was not a drama, but I think by the mental point of view a reaction to a negative moment was important”.

He explained that the Chelsea team now look panicked when they go a goal down because their confidence is low and it will only come back once they put together a run of positive results on the bounce. They knew a draw would be acceptable but they wanted to win.

The Blues have endured a poor start to their Premier League title defence after their sixth defeat of the season against Liverpool last weekend left the champions 14 points adrift of first-placed Manchester City.
