“The latest revelation that the then state government led by Raje in 2007 had recommended Lalit Modi’s name for Padma award has again substantiated close relations of Raje with Modi”, Pilot said in a statement in reaction to media reports.
Over the past few weeks, the Congress has attacked both Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje and demanded their ouster. Union Minister Sushma Swaraj stirred a controversy by admitting that she had no objection to Lalit Modi’s request to travel out of the United Kingdom for his wife’s treatment.
Raje had reportedly forwarded Lalit Modi’s name to the state’s sports council citing grounds of his vast business empire and his contributions in development of cricket in the state.
“As far as scams are concerned, had Rahul Gandhi spoken at least ten percent of it in the UPA tenure, many scams would have not taken place”.

His jibe invited a sharp retort from the BJP which reminded him of his “silence” over scams exposed during the UPA dispensation and said unlike the Congress, its government had gone for a CBI probe. “When the Congress was indulging in scams, then Gandhi was silent”, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
