“Before elections, some trouble is always created because if people are united, BJP can never win”, the Congress Vice President said.
Gandhi, who arrived in Assam on a two-day visit on Friday, was speaking during a meeting with editors and senior journalists at the Brahmaputra Guest House here. Ahead of the last assembly election also, the Congress had projected him as its chief ministerial candidate. Later, he addressed a public rally in the district.
“Rahul Gandhi on Narendra Modi: “PM “…can only give speeches…like a balloon which only bounces”.
“(Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji came to Assam about a year back and made many tall promises like he will bring back black money from the foreign banks and deposit at least Rs. 15 lakh in the bank accounts of each Indian. “The people in Bihar rejected him and the BJP, for they didn’t want to be cheated twice by the party”, he said. “The people of the state saw him and listened to him but refused to vote for the party due to its communal agenda”.
On other hand, the Congress vice president said that, the Congress party is very concerned to implement the Assam Accord which was signed by his father and former Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Gandhi alleged that the Modi-led government has been trying to curtail pro-poor policies of the previous UPA government, including MGNREGA, Food Security Bill and Land Acquisition Act.
