Now that finally, the High Court has refused to quash lower court’s summons to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in the case, they are stalling the Parliament and calling it a political Vendetta. A Congress MP from Maharashtra said: “Looks like we will have to do this kind of disruption daily till December 19, when they appear in the court”.

“Everyone is equal before the law and nobody in the country is allowed privileges; the Gandhis should realise that”.

To a question on why the government is not taking action on the National Herald issue or against Sonia’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, he said the matter is in court and law will take its course. “We all know who is threatening the judiciary”, he added.

A combative Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who briefly spoke to reporters, signalled party’s determination to fight the issue legally and politically.

While the upper house was adjourned for the second day without transaction of any business due to slogan shouting by Congress members, the Lok Sabha saw one adjournment and a short discussion on the issue that saw trading of charges between the two sides.

Speaking outside the Parliament on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi said: “It’s 100% political vendetta coming out of the PM’s Office. You are telling judiciary how dare you summon us”, Naidu said. “This is the way the union government tries to silence me”, he told the media Tuesday.

“I’m the daughter-in-law of Indira Gandhi”.

Senior advocates Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Harin Raval and Ramesh Gupta appeared for the Gandhis and other accused and moved separate pleas seeking exemption from personal apperance for their clients for Tuesday only. “As a person from the court, I would feel that it is better if the courts are kept aloof and the judicial orders are not dragged into any political controversy”, Memon told ANI. Asserting that BJP has no connection to this case, Gadkari said it is ridiculous that the Congress was falsely accusing it. Truth will come out in the end. “It’s being attacked for its ideology”, he said, adding the National Herald has always been a part of the Congress and Young India Limited was created to help it revive.
