UP will be facing assembly elections in 2017, and the party has an arduous task before it, given the fact that none except Sonia and Rahul Gandhi could win a seat in UP in the last Lok Sabha elections. The Modi government dumped the welfare schemes initiated by the UPA government and cut down the budgetary allocation for health, education and social sectors. Has anyone got employment? “Did it happen?” Gandhi said at a rally here.
The Bharatiya Janata Party was quick to react.
According to sources, Lalu Prasad was reluctant to share the dais with Rahul Gandhi as he was unhappy with the Congress leader over the latter’s political approach and stand on some issues. “It was an extremely immature speech”, BJP spokesperson M.J. Akbar told IANS. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Tuesday night said, “Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is travelling to Aspen, United States on a short visit to attend a conference”. The farmers’ financial conditions have worsened under Modi-led government, ” said Sonia Gandhi. He has no time for them.
Police said the man was spotted carrying an air gun and trying to enter the site of the Gandhi’s rally ahead of state polls.
Charging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has no time to meet farmers and hear their woes, Congress Sunday said it would take the fight on the “anti-farmer” land bill to the states.
“We know what Modi ji is”.
The BJP leader said that the Narendra Modi government was committed to give the required infrastructure to Rae Bareli which they lacked for the past 60 years in Congress regime.
“We want to shed the suit-boot, embrace the dhoti. Youths are not getting jobs and despite making promises thrice, OROP has not been given yet”, he said. “We allow people to have different ideologies, unlike the RSS”, he said.
“If you look around, you won’t find anyone wearing a suit or boot. They want to keep their suits clean”, he said citing the example of BJP-ruled Rajasthan where a person below 10th pass can not contest local bodies elections.

“The Congress vice-president who used a more conversational approach for his interaction recounted the list of unfulfilled poll promises and observed that this is causing a deep sense of frustration among the people“.
