Play was abandoned at lunch on the rain-sodden fourth day of the third Test between Australia and the West Indies on Wednesday.
AUSTRALIA – *S Smith, D Warner, J Burns, U Khawaja, A Voges, M Marsh, +P Nevill, S O’Keefe, J Pattinson, J Hazlewood, N Lyon.
The 23-year-old has shown some glimpses of his potential with the willow this series, holding together his team’s second innings with 94 during the first Test in Hobart.
Kraigg Brathwaite added 27 for the fifth wicket with Ramdin before he too perished at the hands of Lyon, gloving a cut to captain Steve Smith at first slip off one that bounced.
After the early loss of opener Shai Hope, Brathwaite and Bravo (33) put together a 91-run stand for the second wicket that built on an improved West Indies batting performance in Melbourne last week.
It has not gone unnoticed that while an inexperienced test side has succumbed to two heavy defeats on their current tour of Australia, a string of seasoned West Indies players are starring in the local Twenty20 Big Bash League.
“Then reaching midway off and listening to the applause – I even noticed some individuals standing – I simply took a step again and stated “you already know what, simply benefit from the feeling”.
Showers washed out most of the post-lunch session, while players scurried off the ground at 4.50pm (AEDT) because of another downpour.
Brathwaite was dismissed cheaply by Lyon in both innings during the Boxing Day Test, but fared better on Sunday before falling to the spinner again.
“He’s a great team man and felt he would be letting the team down (if he played)”.
“I think those things happen in cricket”. The start of play was delayed by 10 minutes due to wet weather but when play did begin, Nathan Lyon was able to bowl only three deliveries before the rain returned.
He said: “It’s a good challenge, [Lyon] is bowling quite well and you just have to keep believing in your ability”.
“We’ve got to see how much play we get tomorrow [Wednesday] first”.
Denesh Ramdin will resume on 30 not out for West Indies alongside Kemar Roach, who has yet to score, on day three.

Opener Kraigg Brathwaite made a resilient 85 to provide nearly lone resistance for the tourists on a day when 15 overs were lost to passing showers.
