Rainbow Six Siege Will See Four Major Content Expansions in 2016, Are
Ubisoft details their plan for free Rainbow Six Seige DLC coming in 2016, as well as announce their intentions regarding the game’s microtransactions. Each expansion will introduce one new map and two operators, armed with a unique gadget, as well as new primary and secondary weapons. The publisher is essentially operating a “no paywall” philosophy where maps are given away for free and extra characters (operators, in the game’s lingo) can be unlocked either by extended play or with real money. Killing teammates will negatively impact your Renown, however, so watch your fire. Although you best carve out a hefty chunk of time if you’re planning to unlock them this way, with Ubi speculating each DLC Operator will take around 25 hours to unlock – though those available in the main game on launch can be earned much more quickly.

“Also, there will be a number of premium weapon skins that can only be accessed with R6 Credits”, the studio continued.
Ubisoft is using the dual currency system that many modern titles are offering, making it easy for gamers who are ready to spend money to get new content while also offering a way to simply unlock it by playing the shooter. “Our vision was not a game that you’d play through and ‘beat, ‘ but something you’d regularly come back to”. Tiers 4 and 5 (which represent about a third of the available skins) can only be unlocked with R6 Credits.
The 20 operators included at launch are priced steadily – the first one you unlock in each counter-terrorist unit costs 500 Renown, the second is 1,000, and so on. What you think of Ubisoft’s post-launch plans and microtransaction system? That means no paywalls that could split the community, with purchasable R6 Credits (available in bundles of 600, 1200, 2670, 4920, 7560) used for higher tier weapon skins. Alternatively, you buy a new operator with real cash for $5, which translates to 600 points of R6 credits.
Daily Challenges are optional goals that can net players extra Renown.
These can be used to unlock operators, weapons and weapon skins.
Characters-known in the game as “operators”-will be available post-launch for 25,000 Renown each”.
