Darren O’Day got the win in relief of Kevin Gausman, pitching one inning of relief. The same two teams play a matinee game in Minneapolis today at 12:10 P-M. on 610 KDAL.
The series opener on Monday was postponed with bad weather looming in the area, a much-needed break for the Twins after an terrible road trip dropped their record to an AL-worst 8-23.
Davis and Trumbo combined to drive in seven runs, and Trumbo homered twice for his third multi-homer game of the season.
Then he lost the handle on his breaking ball, and the Minnesota Twins lost yet another game.
Bauer (3-0), who started the season in the bullpen, allowed three hits and struck out seven to extend his winning streak to a career-high three games.
Jones was in a 3-for-26 skid over the last seven games and had seen his average fall to.196. “That was a lot of pent up, I can tell you that”.
“I didn’t check the lineup”, Mauer said, according to the Pioneer Press.
“I think the last couple games have been really strong and kind of what we’re hoping for”, Trumbo said. The game starts at 1:10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May.
The Orioles looked motivated and wasted no time in finding their form in the opening series of the season against the Twins as they took a three-game sweep, but let’s just call it getting even.
Wilson allowed a homer to Sano in the second inning and an RBI single to Danny Santana in the fifth, but was hardly touched the rest of his outing by the slumping Twins offense.
Twins: RHP Kyle Gibson (right shoulder strain) threw a bullpen and is scheduled to throw another on Friday. He has been on the disabled list since April 13.
