Rahul Gandhi today began the second leg of his poll after starting campaign from central Gujarat.

But Congress -wanting not to let the controversy engulf its campaign- sought to end the spiraling war of words by pointing out that Rahul Gandhi was merely referring to the lack of women at the RSS top echelons.

Gandhi, who talked to youth in Vadodara, accused the Sangh Parivar of “not being interested in giving rights to women” and said women were present at all levels in the Congress. She also added that instead of wasting his time hurting the feelings of the people of Gujarat and making fun od the development, he should rather focus on his constituency Amethi as it needs more development. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in his address, pointed out that Rahul rushed to the constituency when he learnt of BJP’s October 10 programme.

Taking a dig at the BJP chief, Randeep Surjewala, chief of Congress communication department, asked Shah if he would visit Gorakhpur, where 460 children have died in past three months, as well.

Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah is facing media heat after news portal The Wire claimed his business saw 16000 percent growth after Modi became prime minister of India.

“The Congress Party, whose rule was a “Sultanate of Corruption”, is concocting stories to defame the people of Gujarat before the elections”, she added. “A theft has taken place in front of the eyes of the chowkidar (watchman), but you are silent”. Anandiben further said that will Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi approve comments made by Rahul Gandhi. Irani said the Congress Vice President has insulted members of the Rahstriya Sevika Samiti, the women’s wing of the RSS.

The BJP is focusing on Amethi, a dusty town in eastern Uttar Pradesh that Gandhi represents in the Lok Sabha, and has fielded senior leaders to attack the 47-year-old opposition leader.

“Does this reek of cronyism”, Union Minister Smriti Irani said in a statement, a day after her ministerial colleague Piyush Goyal defended the junior Shah. “You get to know about an organisation from its structure”, Gandhi said.

Irani also enumerated the developmental schemes and projects that the Centre undertook in Amethi.
