Rajnath Singh to brief PM Modi on Kashmir

Singh is expected to tell PM Modi about the assessment done by the delegation of the ground situation in Kashmir, officials sources said.
Aided by Pakistan and backed by militants separatists in Kashmir turned down an offer for talks made by members of the All Party delegation who landed in Srinagar on Sunday. The violence broke out after the killing of Hizbul Mujahiddin terrorist Burhan Wani on July 8.
Clarifying that the MPs’ abortive attempt to reach out to the separatists was their own initiative, independent of the all-party delegation’s mandate, the Singh said, “Some Members of Parliament had gone to meet the Hurriyat leaders”. Whatever transpired there and on the basis of information given to us by members of the delegation, I can say that the response does not reflect Kashmiriyat. Neither did we say yes, nor did we say no. “We are willing to speak with anyone who wants peace in Kashmir and the Centre and state are working to alleviate the situation here”, he said. He said their attitude was against democracy, humanity and “Kashmiriyat”(Kashmiri ethos).
She said this movement is for safeguarding the dignity of lacs of Kashmiris who want nothing but end to the illegal occupation.
He said he was aware that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had written letters to separatist leaders inviting them for talks with the delegation. “There are no two ways about the fact that Jammu and Kashmir was, is and always will be an integral part of India”, Singh added.
“Everyone we met has the wish that situation in Kashmir should improve. Not only doors, even our ventillators are open for talks”, Mr. Singh said.
Giving details about the engagements of the all-party delegation, Singh said they interacted with more than 30 delegations comprising 300 persons from different walks of life.
