Rajnath Singh to lead all-party delegation to Jammu & Kashmir

“About 30-member all-party delegation includes leaders of over 20 political parties”.

Reportedly, this time MIM supremo and one of the major critics of BJP led NDA government at the center and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi and another prominent minority face and leader of Muslim League E Ahamed’s names have emerged as the part of the delegation. During Kashmir visit the delegation, accompanied by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and Senior Officers of MHA, will be meeting the State Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and about ten Civil Society delegations before returning.

The all-party delegation led by Singh will visit Jammu and Kashmir on September 4 and is expected to meet a cross section of people, individuals and organisations as an effort to restore peace back in the state.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will undertake a two-day visit to the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday during which he will review the situation and may hold talks with a cross-section of people, a move which comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed “deep concern and pain” over the situation there. The delegation will also comprise JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader D Raja, NCP leader Tariq Anwar and Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy. He leader said such an exercise would be meaningless as the delegation had not recognised Kashmir as a disputed place.

Official sources, said that Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s meeting will be “restricted” and he is likely to interact with only those who are keen to discuss and help resolve all issues within the framework of the constitution.
